Grameenphone, the connectivity partner of Digital Bangladesh, has recently signed an agreement with IDTCO Bangladesh, an integrated telecommunication infrastructure service provider. Through this agreement, IDTCO Bangladesh is planning to set up 500 towers for Grameenphone to open up the possibility of connectivity across the country.
This partnership is a manifestation of Grameenphone's commitment to ensuring data and voice services through tower expansion in the current difficult times. The agreement between Grameenphone and IDTCO will also meet the objective of providing services to more operators through proper operation and efficient management of passive infrastructure and construction of fewer towers.
BTRC chairman Zahurul Haque said about this. “This is the beginning of a positive journey for mobile tower management in Bangladesh which is essential to ensure quality customer service. And Grameenphone's continuous efforts to protect its growing demand deserves praise. We hope that this initiative will play an important role in building a digital Bangladesh. ”
Yasir Ajman, Chief Executive Officer, Grameenphone, said, "I would like to thank the BTRC leadership for giving us the opportunity to expand our network by building towers in view of the challenging situation." Grameenphone has always focused on customer needs and the tower expansion will help us deliver on our commitment to better customer service and unleash the potential of Digital Bangladesh. Together we aim to develop people's digital lifestyles and empower the country's society. '
Ricky Stein, Country Managing Director, IDTCO Bangladesh, said, “We are pleased to be working with Grameenphone on our joint venture to build a comprehensive, sustainable and forward-looking mobile network system in Bangladesh. IDTCO has gained worldwide reputation for its quality of service. Here, too, we are confident of playing a special role, which will ultimately help realize the dream of a digital Bangladesh. '
Both Grameenphone and IDTCO Bangladesh are grateful to the Department of Posts and Telecommunications and the BTRC for their effective role in the implementation of this agreement. Currently, Grameenphone has more than 16,000 tower sites, of which more than 13,000 tower sites are dedicated to Forge.
